16th May to 27th May 2017
Come summer and the schools shut down for vacation and you start scouting for a perfect place to send your child to keep him or her busy with some activity. And what better place to send your child to a place which combines the discipline of yoga and the fun of a camp.
Swami Vishnudevananda, our Guru and the founder of Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres had immense love for kids and he saw great potential in introducing yoga to them at an early age. Keeping that in mind, he started Kids Camp in 1972. The Teens Camp borrows its essence from there.
The camp is a great combination of a disciplined life of yoga and the fun of summer camp. It aims at inculcating the values of a yogic life including vegetarianism, respect for all religions, love for nature and humanity. This is achieved through a combination of indoor and outdoor activities with an element of fun.
The daily activities include:
- Yoga Asanas
- Breathing exercises
- Games – outdoor and indoor
- Group activities
Suresh is the Course Director who has been a part of the organisation since 2001. He has been teaching Yoga both at our Indian centres as well as abroad in Canada. He has been organising the annual 3 week Kids’ Camp at the ashram. His warm and fun-loving nature makes him a favourite with children of all ages.
Suresh is assisted by an able team of staff members who are there throughout the course to take care of the children's needs.
The programme is taught by ashram staff that are available throughout the course to care for the children's needs. Children learn the value of karma yoga (selfless service) as they help to maintain the ashram with their daily tasks. Yoga asana and meditation help to keep the body healthy, flexible and the mind focused.
